As an adjective, it means "this," "that," "there," and "here." It can mean the nearer or the further depending on usage.-- The "this" is an adjective that can mean "this" or "that," "here," or "there," the nearer or the further depending on usage. When the noun already has an article, it meaning is "here." As an adverb it means "in this way," "therefore," and "that is why." It is the same form as the fem sg dat form of the "this" is a pronoun.
