LOST IN TRANSLATION

This is also another example of a bilingual statement that could not have been translated from Aramaic, since it contains an untranslated Aramaic word, Abba. This is one of the many examples of a verse the proves Jesus spoke Greek. The Greek doesn't fit together well, perhaps like fragments of speech overheard by someone. The Father is addressed both directly in the third-person, "Father, the father.

Jesus makes no request of his Father. There is no word meaning "take away." The verb means "serve" but it can mean "turn away" or "bring away." The English Bible parses it as a second-person imperative (command/request), but that it not is form. It is a third-person statement, "he serves" or "it serves." The words "this cup here" could be either an object or a subject of the sentence. The "from me" seems to describe source of the cup since the verb means "bringing" not "taking away."
