LOST IN TRANSLATION

This verse is identical to Matthew 14:27 and Mark 6:50  except it omits the first word in that verse. However, leaving out the first word changes the sense of the following words. The statement "I am" doesn't read like an announcement "It is I," where the verb would have preceded the noun. With the pronoun coming first, the sense is "I myself exist." This could be a denial that he was a vision or a ghost. It could also means that "I am here" where the "here" after "am" that might be implied.
