LOST IN TRANSLATION

In Greek, this is a rambling phrase that seems very much like something spoken, not written. It is almost like describing a vision where different aspects of what is seen come into focus one at a time. English translators try to streamline it in a way that loses this feeling. A similar sense of different scenes coming into focus one at a time is a characteristic of other prophecies of Jesus, including the one of his own death in Mark 10:33 and Mark 10:34.
